Abu Dhabi to Host Second Global Sphere Venue Under Commercial Agreement

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is set to become home to the world’s second Sphere entertainment complex, following an agreement between the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism and Sphere Entertainment Co. The landmark project signifies a substantial commercial undertaking, solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a burgeoning entertainment and tourism destination.

Under the terms of the agreement, Abu Dhabi will secure a franchise license from Sphere Entertainment Co., which includes the utilization of the company’s proprietary designs and intellectual property for the venue’s construction. The government of Abu Dhabi will finance the construction of the colossal structure and will also remit annual fees to Sphere Entertainment Co. for the provision of creative and artistic content to be showcased within the venue. This commercial arrangement highlights the complex legal and financial structures often involved in large-scale international development projects and intellectual property licensing.

The announcement follows the successful launch of the inaugural Sphere in Las Vegas in 2023, an advanced entertainment venue renowned for its high-resolution LED screen and immersive experiences.
